Check out Temple's URugby video. Temple finished second in the 2015 URugby Sevens Philly and ninth at the 2015 American Collegiate Rugby Championship Sevens.
Temple Rugby is proven to be one of the best in Keystone Rugby Conference with close matches this season against St. Joes. It seemed like Temple has been in every tournament final in the 2015 spring season.
The Men's Rugby club is a part of the Eastern Pennsylvania Rugby Union (EPRU) and competes in the Division 1-AA (D1-AA) Keystone Rugby Conference. The club competes against teams like St. Joseph's University, West Chester University, Rutgers University, Millersville University, Shippensburg University and the University of Pittsburgh.
Since its inception, Temple Rugby has been one of the most successful sports at Temple University. Temple has won the Mayor's Cup and Liberty Cup multiple times, and in 2003 won the Division II EPRU chammpionships. Since then, Temple has been competing at the Division I level, and has qualified for the EPRU championships three years in a row. Many men who play for Temple continue playing after college for clubs such as Media, Schuylkill River and Philadelphia Whitemarsh.
Temple University Men’s Rugby has experienced tremendous success since the club was founded in 1982, yet the past few years have been particularly special. In 2010, Temple was a finalist in the Division II National Championship, which earned them promotion to Division I. In just their first season, the Owls advanced to the Division I Sweet Sixteen tournament, eventually finishing as the 14th ranked team in the country.
The strength of Temple Rugby lies in the commitment and solidarity of the players, traits that are also embodied by their coaches. This team prides itself on the toughness and resiliency that has been a distinguishable and consistent quality of every Temple team for 30 years. The Owls will play a strong brand of team rugby, and give their fans (who are as loyal as they are loud) something to cheer about.
